Update on Goal #2: Get Moving

I have been really slacking on blogging recently. I need to get back into the habit of posting at least once a week. I have plenty of things to post about I just need to take the time to write each post. Keep coming back for some cool posts in the coming weeks.

So on to the reason for this post.

You might remember a little over 5 months ago I posted my goal to get moving again this year. If you have been following me on twitter and keeping up on my blog I am sure you know that I have been very successful with this goal. Back in May, which is just 2.5 months since I started my goal, I posted about completing my first 5K.  So far that is the only official race I have taken part in but soon enough I will have at least one half-marathon under my belt.

Here are some notes updating you about the past 5 months and what is ahead:

  • I have dropped 24 pounds on the scale so far.  I haven’t been this light for 4 years.  I am hoping to drop 15 to 20 more.
  • I have been doing lifting focusing on my upper body every Mon, Wed, Fri each week and have definitely put on some muscle so I am sure I have lost more than 24 pounds of fat.
  • I am usually getting a run in 5 to 6 days a week with each run usually being at least 30 minutes.
  • Most days I am running either 3, 4, or 5 miles.
  • I have had weeks recently where I have run 25 and 22 miles over 6 days.
  • My Nike shoes that I wrote about in the original post are holding up well.  They have been very comfortable and I have had no blisters at all.
  • Last week I was able to do my first chin-up in at least 4 years.  I actually did 2!  I immediately went out and bought a chin-up bar.
  • My best times are 3.0 miles in 23:40,  4.0 miles in 33:26, and 5.0 miles in 43:54
  • Kolby and I are planning on running in the Las Vegas half marathon December 6th.

Bryce & Loni – 08/09/09 – Dana Point Wedding Photography

This past Sunday I rose before 6:00am and hit the road before 7:00am for Bryce and Loni’s intimate wedding at the Chart House Restaurant in Dana Point. The cool/strange thing about morning weddings is once you are done working it is still light out and you have the rest of the day ahead of you.  I need to thank my good friend Brian Hamilton at Suite M for hooking me up with this amazing couple and wedding.  Brian is the owner and main photographer at Suite M Photography.  Among being an awesome photographer, he also is an all around great guy.  He is the first person I recommend if I am already booked.  Here are some of my favorite images from Bryce & Loni’s wedding.

The day started out in Laguna Niguel with Loni getting ready for the day.

Hyatt Regency Wedding Photography – Huntington Beach – Thomas & Julia – 07/25/09

This past Saturday I had the joy of photographing Thomas and Julia’s wedding at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach.  You may remember Thomas and Julia’s engagement session I posted on this blog about two months ago. You can find that session here. Julia and Thomas are finally together after dating long distance between Canada and Orange County. I am so happy for them and wish them the best.

With the beautiful weather, the coast experiencing the best surf in nearly a decade, and the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, you had the perfect storm for horrific traffic. I gave myself twice as much time to get to the Hyatt as it would normally take, even with that I arrived about 2 minutes late as a large Indian wedding party was departing. Julia and and the girls arrived at the Hyatt almost 1 hour late. Good thing we planned 3.5 hours of shooting before the ceremony. Other than the delay from traffic the day went off without any other major problems.

My friend Claire Barrett, and an amazing photographer, joined me on Saturday as a second shooter. I need to thank Claire for all her help and inspiration throughout the day. I love working with other photographers!  I also need to thank my good friend Brian Hamilton at Suite M for hooking me up with this amazing couple and wedding.  Brian is the owner and main photographer at Suite M Photography.  Among being an awesome photographer, he also is an all around great guy.  He is the first person I recommend if I am already booked.

Since Julia and many of the girls were stuck in traffic, we started off with Thomas and the guys. There are so many amazing images from the day. Here are some of my favorites.
